Neeraj A. Sharma, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Palau to India, was conferred with the prestigious ‘Consul of the Year’ Award at the Consular Day 2026 celebration organised by the Honorary Consular Corps Diplomatique – India (HCCD-India) in the national capital.
The evening brought together distinguished members of the diplomatic community, including ambassadors, high commissioners, honorary consuls, officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, and prominent members of Delhi’s social circles. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), along with Guest of Honour H.E. Mr. Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, Ambassador of Eritrea and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, and H.E. Maj. Gen. Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan and Deputy Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
Neeraj Sharma was recognised for his outstanding contribution towards strengthening bilateral relations between India and the Republic of Palau, and for his continued efforts in promoting diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. Under his tenure, the relationship between the two nations has seen significant growth, reflecting his commitment to fostering meaningful international collaborations.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. K.L. Ganju, President, HCCD-India, highlighted the important role played by honorary consuls in strengthening global partnerships and advancing people-to-people connections. He noted that such recognitions celebrate individuals who go beyond traditional roles to build lasting bridges between nations.
