Hard times pass, but strong individuals endure. Given that the French midfielder recently said he will be appealing his four-year doping penalty to the Court of Arbitration of Sport, it seems that Paul Pogba may still be clinging to that notion.

After a difficult few years in the football world, Pogba was recently handed a rigorous four-year suspension for a doping offense.

After Juventus defeated Udinese 3-0 in August 2023, the midfield player was selected for testing. Pogba tested positive for testosterone dosage, which is prohibited in sports, according to the tests.

The Italian national anti-doping tribunal (NADO Italia) temporarily banned Pogba in September, and in December, the prosecution asked for a four-year penalty.

Pogba used Instagram to express his disappointment at the results and to reiterate his innocence after learning of the failed tests and the punishment.

Pogba posted on his personal Instagram page, saying, “I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect.”

“I am devastated, appalled, and saddened that everything I have worked so hard to achieve in my professional playing career has been ripped from me.

Pogba said, “The whole story will become clear when I am free of legal restrictions, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.”

After spending his early years in France with teams like Roissy-en-Brie, Torcy, and Le Havre, Pogba began his professional club career with English powerhouse Manchester United. In 2012, he made his first transfer to Juventus in the Italian league.

However, his reunion with the Juventus Old Lady was everything from a fantasy. The World Cup champion had the most difficulty playing for the squad for the longest time due to injuries.

Despite his injury recovery, Pogba has not looked like the flashy, exciting player he once was. In the previous two seasons, he has made just eight appearances and has not made any impact at all.

Pogba knows that his chances of winning are slim, but he refuses to give up and has declared that he would appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in a desperate bid to clear his name and resume his football career.

“As a professional athlete, I would never use illegal drugs to improve my performance, and I have never denigrated or betrayed teammates or the fans of any club I have played for or against.

Pogba said, “I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport as a consequence of the decision announced today.”
