When PM Modi meets legendary actress Vyjayanthimala in Chennai, he folds his hands and greets her

<p>Renowned actress Vyjayanthimala, who was recently awarded the Padma Vibhushan, was recently honored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai. The PM posted photos from their encounter on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Monday. He was seen chatting with Vyjayanthimala in the pictures, greeting her with folded hands as well. Vyjayanthimala is revered for her “exemplary contribution to the world of Indian cinema,” according to Modi, who also complimented the iconic actress.</p>

<p>It was a pleasure to meet Vyjayanthimala Ji in Chennai. He stated, “She just received the Padma Vibhushan and is highly regarded in India for her outstanding contribution to the Indian film industry.</p>
<p>In January of this year, Vyjayanthimala was included on the list of awardees for the Padma Vibhushan. In addition to her, 132 other people, including Chiranjeevi, received Padma awards. Out of them, eight, including Vyjayanthimala, were from Tamil Nadu. One of the nation’s highest civilian honors, the Padma Awards are given out in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. Award categories include art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service, among other professions and spheres of endeavor.</p>
<p>One of the best actors in Indian cinema is Vyjayanthimala Bali. At sixteen, she starred in her first film, Vaazhkai (1949), a Tamil film. 1951 saw the premiere of Bahar, her debut Hindi film. Later, Bali contributed to a number of movies from the 1950s and 1960s, such as Jewel Thief, Devdas, Naya Daur, Aasha, Sadhna, Gunga Jumna, and Sangam. It’s interesting to note that in 1968, she also received a Padma Shri.</p>
