Since the Lok Sabha elections are slated for this year, the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is expected to begin on March 22 and will be staged in two stages. The reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will square off in the first leg at Chepauk beginning on Friday. Half of the tournament’s schedule has been released by the BCCI; the other days will be revealed after the announcement of voting dates by the Election Commission of India.

The Times of India reports that the IPL 2024 second phase may be moved to the United Arab Emirates, like it was in 2014. According to the source, a few BCCI officials in the United Arab Emirates should “investigate the possibility” of holding the tournament’s second half in Dubai.

“On Saturday at 3 p.m., the Indian Election Commission will declare the election timetable. The BCCI will next determine whether or not to shift the IPL matches to Dubai. According to the report, a few senior BCCI executives are already in Dubai, investigating the prospect of holding the IPL’s second half there.

Due to the COVID epidemic, the IPL was last staged in the United Arab Emirates in 2020 and 2021. The three locations where the games were played were Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

Additionally, a few IPL teams have reportedly obtained their players’ passports in case the league’s second stage is moved outside of India owing to general elections. Nonetheless, BCCI insiders insist that the league would only be held in India.

According to a few sources, the franchisees have also reportedly gathered the passports in case there are last-minute adjustments, just in case, to minimize any validity concerns.

Before the game began, there was talk that the 2024 Indian Premier League would be relocated outside of India due to the general elections, as they have in the past. The BCCI did, however, go on to provide the schedule for the 2024 IPL’s first leg.
